Settlement Reached In Membership Reps' Suit Against Nielsen

A motion for settlement of a class action lawsuit filed against NIELSEN by a former Membership Representative has been filed. A hearing is set for MAY 23rd on the motion for settlement in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of CALIFORNIA; The settlement will set a maximum $1.2 million for current and former Membership Representatives for the company, and was arrived at after private mediation.
The former Membership Representative and Membership Representative Trainer who brought the suit alleged that members of the class, who typically work out of their homes and on the road and submit time sheets, were automatically docked up to 30 minutes from each of the first and last of their daily drives to clients.
The suit also alleged that NIELSEN failed to pay overtime or provide meal and rest periods and provided inaccurate itemized wage statements.
