Anti-O&A Online Petition Gets The Pest Treatment

Someone in BUFFALO is not happy that OPIE AND ANTHONY's syndicated show is now heard on WEDG (103.3 THE EDGE)/BUFFALO and has started a web site and online petition to return local hosts SHREDD AND RAGAN, now in afternoons, back to mornings.

 The site, fixtheedge.com, proclaims that it speaks "on behalf of a large majority of radio listeners in the WESTERN NEW YORK region" and, after trashing O&A for being national and "not car(ing) about BUFFALO and its listeners," lauds SHREDD AND RAGAN for knowing "what it means to try to merge off the '33' and why NIAGARA FALLS has one hell of a Police Blotter." THe URL fixtheedge.com appears to be registered to a software company called HIGHER TECHNOLOGIES OF NEW YORK.   OPIE formerly worked in BUFFALO and is friendly with SHREDD.

And that's all the O&A "pests" needed to launch an immediate invasion of the online petition, with "signatures" and comments posted from O&A-related names like JIM NORTON's alter ego "FRANK THE FROWNER," "STEVE the Bisexual Bear," "PAT BARRINGER" (should be PAT BARRINGTON, a B-movie actress of the 1960s appearing in the vintage documentary "THE ART OF THE TOPLESS"), comics RICH VOS and PATRICE O'NEAL, the late ROBERT REED, CITADEL's FARID SULEMAN, and various versions of "RAMONE!"

Later on WEDNESDAY, the site was taken down and an apology statement posted by "Dan," stating that "103.3 THE EDGE and FOUPONS.COM have requested the removal of this petition. I would like to thank all those who showed their great Western NEW YORK spirit in signing the petition. However it was never my intention to cause such a division between the EDGE listeners. FOUPONS.COM, the host of this page, spoke with THE EDGE and came to the conclusion that my page was doing more harm than good to the team at THE EDGE.

"SHREDD AND RAGAN and OPIE AND ANTHONY are friends outside the radio waves and do not desire to have their listeners against each other. My simple wish was to get the BUFFALO community to rally together to support a local Radio Team that has been with us for over a decade.
