PHARRELL WILLIAMS “Happy” has made history as the first and only song to ever reach #1 at six different MEDIABASE radio formats. This week, “Happy” jumps to #1 at MEDIABASE’s Adult Contemporary format; “Happy” remains #1 at Hot AC and Urban AC formats, and has recently topped the charts at Top 40, Urban, and Rhythm formats, marking six total formats at #1.
Just weeks ago, “Happy” broke yet another MEDIABASE record, reaching 272 million in weekly audience and thus shattering the previous record set by ROBIN THICKE’s “Blurred Lines.”
In total, “Happy” has charted at seven MEDIABASE formats -- Top 40, Rhythm, AC, Hot AC, Urban, Urban AC and Triple A.
“The remarkable achievement of PHARRELL WILLIAMS ”Happy” to reach #1 at six formats is indeed a momentous occasion in the history of MEDIABASE. In ascending to the top spot at AC this week, PHARRELL WILLIAMS sets a new record for the most amount of #1s at six formats on ‘Happy’. We certainly extend hearty congratulations to PHARRELL WILLIAMS and COLUMBIA RECORDS for this new milestone,” said MEDIA MONITORS-MEDIABASE Pres./CEO PHILIPPE GENERALI.
“It’s an honor to work with a visionary like PHARRELL WILLIAMS. We are so excited with the success of the launch of his album 'G I R L.'
