Several years ago, WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY WPSC/WAYNE, NJ), created an award honoring people who they considered, “brave in radio”. Past winners of the award include LES PAUL, BRUCE MORROW, HOWARD STERN, ROBIN QUIVERS and NPR’s “Radio Lab”. This year’s “Bravery In Radio Award” was presented to ELVIS DURAN.
WPSC presented the award live on the CCM+E Top 40 WHTZ (Z100)/NEW YORK morning show on MAY 9th at 8a. Professor ROB QUICKE, GM of WPSC stated, “For his efforts in producing creative and exciting radio over the course of his career, the students of WPSC are delighted to recognize ELVIS DURAN with this year’s Bravery In Radio award. ELVIS is a broadcaster who creates undeniably compelling morning radio that is unafraid to address serious topics and go to places that other shows will not go. ELVIS is very much an authentic broadcaster who truly connects with his listeners.”
Upon receiving the award live on the air, DURAN stated, “I’m honored and flattered and humbled, I appreciate this very much. I’ve been doing radio since I was 14 years old -- and I turn 50 this year! I have been doing radio for a long, long time! Thanks so much.”
