The CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING has upheld its $15,000 fine against RADIO CATSKILL noncommercial Variety WJFF/JEFFERSONVILLE, NY for various violations in 2011 that led to a 2013 revolt against the station's then-management, reports the MIDDLETOWN (NY) TIMES HERALD-RECORD.
The station was fined for failing to announce open meetings and not explaining why the meetings may have been closed to the public. When the CPB notified the station in NOVEMBER 2011 of the violations, the CPB alleges, the problems were not remedied; former Station Manager WINSTON CLARK and eight of the nine trustees of the station resigned in the controversy last year. The station appealed the fine, noting that the management responsible for the violations had exited, but the appeal was denied.
