What's old is new again in TAMPA, where CBS' Classic Country WQYK-A will flip back to Sports on AUGUST 11, featuring SPORTING NEWS RADIO's MORNING SHOW with MATT SPIEGEL and BILL LEKAS, TONY BRUNO, TIM BRANDO, ARNIE SPANIER, TODD WRIGHT, and DAVID STEIN, plus local shows with ABC affiliate WFTS-TV (ABC ACTION NEWS) sports anchor AL KECK 1-3p and THE SPORTCHIX (who were on the station in previous Talk and Sports incarnations) 3-6p.
The station will carry the NASCAR series, including BUSCH and CRAFTSMAN TRUCKS, NCAA and NFL football and coverage of the NEW YORK YANKEES.
"We're happy to once again have Sports Talk on WQYK-AM," said CULOTTA. "Sports News Radio offers us some top notch national sports talk and the combination of WFTS Sports anchor AL KECK and the ever popular SPORTCHIX , bring us a local line-up of 30-years experience."
WQYK-A was a Sports station under several slogans, including THE TEAM, SPORTSRADIO 1010, and THE SPORTS ASYLUM through JULY 2004, then tried a HOWARD STERN-anchored "hot talk" format as WBZZ-A (1010 THE BUZZ) through STERN's departure, trying Classic Country starting on JANUARY 1.
