Former PACIFICA FOUNDATION RADIO Executive Director SUMMER REESE has ended her two month occupation of her former office at the company and noncommercial Variety KPFA/BERKELEY-SAN FRANCISCO after a judge issued a temporary restraining order on TUESDAY (5/14) barring her from the office, reports the OAKLAND TRIBUNE.
REESE, with her mother and supporters, broke into her old office with a pair of bolt cutters days after being fired on MARCH 13th by the PACIFICA board of directors. ALAMEDA COUNTY Judge IOANA PETROU ruled that REESE's occupation "constitutes a trespass and nuisance."
The board members backing REESE and the board members voting to oust her have filed dueling lawsuits over the firing in the same court. MARGY WILKINSON has been named Interim Executive Director of the troubled noncommercial radio operator.
