FCC AM Auction 84 Ends, Permits For L.A., Suburban N.Y. Awarded

The FCC's Closed AM Auction 84 has ended with the Commission collecting $891,500 in gross bids and $598,160 in net bids.
Two permits received top bids of $409,000, the long-dormant 1500 AM in the LOS ANGELES market (formerly allocated to BURBANK, now CULVER CITY), won by HOWARD S. LEVINE and WILLIAM J. SCHWAB II's LEVINE/SCHWAB PARTNERSHIP, and the suburban NEW YORK allocation at 1700 AM to MONSEY in ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY, which went to ALEXANDER MEDAKOVICH's ALEXANDER BROADCASTING, INC.
Other winners included STEVE E. KING for a permit at CHUGIAK, AK ($34,000); L. TOPAZ ENTERPRISES, INC. for an AM at SPRING VALLEY, NV ($10,000); AUSTIN R. KENNEDY LLC for a new station at MONTOURSVILLE, PA ($9.400); GENESIS COMMUNICATIONS I, INC. for MICANOPY, FL ($5,000); EDWARD A. SCHOBER at ENOLA, PA ($5,000); BOTT COMMUNICATIONS for EATON, CO ($4,700); LA FAVORITA BROADCASTING, INC. for COALINGA, CA ($2.900); and JERROLD T. LUNDQUIST at BOZEMAN, MT ($2.500).
