The APEX ’06 RADIO CONFERENCE came to a conclusion at OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY near KANKAKEE, IL this past SATURDAY after a full weekend of teaching and new artist performances. Presented by THE PASSION GROUP/NASHVILLE, the event is an annual gathering of progressive-minded Christian CHR and Rock programmers from across the country.
Presenters included AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT GROUP’S MARK ANDERSON, VP MICHAEL BUCKINGHAM of SPIRIT COMMUNCIATIONS Christian Rock WUFM (RadioU 88.7)/COLUMBUS, OH, PD MIKE COUCHMAN of Christian Contemporary Hits WAYK (88.3)/KALAMAZOO, MI among other industry and radio programmers.
APEX ’06 organizer and THE PASSION GROUP owner RICK WELKE stated, “With this being the second year of the event, we really took a long stride forward in focusing in on hot topics and discussions within all areas of the Christian music industry. Specialists in CHR and Rock programming came and offered up their experience, along with great speakers, and presented an event that super-served radio, and labels shared purposes of seeing the potential with these two formats. I truly believe that the people at CHR and Rock radio have a huge opportunity ahead of them to impact culture.”
Next year’s event will be held in NASHVILLE on AUGUST 23-25, 2007. APEX ’07 will be open to all radio programmers and industry individuals interested in growing the influence and impact of CHR and Rock radio.
