The federal indictment of NORTH MIAMI, FL Mayor LUCIE TONDREAU, a former brokered radio show host, includes charges that she and her co-host KARL ORESTE used their Creole-language shows to lure listeners into participating in a $8 million mortgage fraud scheme, reports the MIAMI HERALD.
TONDREAU, NORTH MIAMI's first Haitian-American female mayor and a host and regular guest on Haitian shows on ENTRAVISION Ethnic WLQY-A/HOLLYWOOD, FL and MULTICULTURAL Ethnic WJCC-A/MIAMI, along with ORESTE, disbarred lawyer OKECHUKWU JOSIAH ODUNNA, and KELLY AUGUSTIN face wire fraud conspiracy and wire fraud charges based on incidents between 2005 and 2008 and could each serve up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
TONDREAU was not in MIAMI when the indictments were handed down MONDAY, but she was set to surrender TUESDAY morning after returning from a trip to LAS VEGAS MONDAY evening.
