NPR is shutting down production of its daily show "TELL ME MORE" on AUGUST 1st, reports NPR.ORG's DAVID FOLKENFLIK. The move will result in the loss of 28 jobs, eight of which are presently vacant. Host MICHEL MARTIN and Exec. Editor CARLINE WATSON will remain with the network, assigned to an initiative to cover race, identity, faith, gender and family issues.
EVP/Chief Content Officer KINSEY WILSON told FOLKENFLIK, "These times require that we organize ourselves in different ways and that we're smarter about how we address the different platforms that we reach our audiences on. We're trying to make the most of the resources that we have and ensure that we keep radio healthy and try to develop audience in the digital arena."
