GARRY MEIER is heading off AM and on the Net while JOHN WILLIAMS is back in the new lineup at TRIBUNE News-Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO, in a move initially reported by ROBERTFEDER.COM.
MEIER will be moving from afternoons on WGN to the online-only WGN.FM stream 3-7p (CT), while BILL LEFF and WENDY SNYDER move from 9a-noon to 3-7p (CT) to replace MEIER on the AM side and WILLIAMS, who left WGN in DECEMBER 2012 after doing double duty for the station and CBS RADIO News-Talk WCCO-A/MINNEAPOLIS for two years, will return for 10a-noon; he will do the show from MINNEAPOLIS and continue his afternoon show for WCCO as well.
In addition, comedian PATTI VASQUEZ will officially take over 11p-2a; she has been hosting the show since PETE MCMURRAY moved to 7-11p in FEBRUARY. The new lineup will be effective TUESDAY.
On WILLIAMS' return, VP of Content TODD MANLEY said, “JOHN crafts radio shows that are laced with such unique wit and wisdom that you don’t want to miss a minute. JOHN was born to be on both of these great stations. We give many thanks to our friends at WCCO for so graciously sharing him."
On MEIER's move, President and General Manager JIMMY DE CASTRO said, "GARRY is perfect for WGN.fm because he understands both the potential of spoken word and that the future of radio is programming to tech-savvy, mobile audiences. His approach to entertain interactively through digital media propels us into the future. This is a great start to the revamp of our entire online and mobile products including our apps, websites and on-demand content distribution.”
