TOWNSQUARE MEDIA Country WBKR/OWENSBORO, KY Brand Mgr./morning co-host MOON MULLINS announced his retirement from radio while on the air this MORNING (5/27), effective WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18th.
MULLINS posted on his FACEBOOK page following TODAY’s airshift, “That will be 52 years, six months and 18 days. DEBRA and I will relocate to HOUSTON where we will be near family. Finishing out at WBKR means I have been here longer than any other station I worked.”
MULLINS joined WBKR nine years ago; he’s a 2009 COUNTRY RADIO HALL OF FAME inductee whose career has included programming/on-air positions at KVOO/TULSA, KFDI/WICHITA, WSM-AM/NASHVILLE, WDAF-A/KANSAS CITY, WHN/NEW YORK, plus 13 years in a consulting role.
Commenting on his retirement, MULLINS told ALL ACCESS, “The door is open and I’m gonna walk through it to see where it leads.”
Back at WBKR, Dir./Promotions/morning co-host CHAD BENEFIELD has been upped to Brand Mgr. and will continue hosting mornings solo while a search is conducted for a new co-host.
