The CHICAGO TRIBUNE's ED SHERMAN is reporting that the CHICAGO CUBS are close to announcing a new radio deal to leave longtime flagship TRIBUNE News-Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO to move to crosstown CBS RADIO News WBBM-A for the 2015 season. SHERMAN reports that the team and WBBM are "ironing out final details, and WGN is not expected to match WBBM's offer."
Meanwhile, CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS is reporting that WGN is continuing to negotiate with the CUBS; its sister national cable network WGN AMERICA is dropping CUBS, BULLS, and WHITE SOX telecasts as part of its conversion from a partial "superstation" simulcast of CW affiliate WGN-TV/CHICAGO to a standard cable network. WGN-TV remains in the running for the local broadcast television rights.
