Price For Midwest-South Central Deal: $72 Million

The price for MIDWEST COMMUNICATIONS' purchase of the SOUTH CENTRAL COMMUNICATIONS stations in EVANSVILLE, NASHVILLE, and KNOXVILLE is $72 million, according to the contract filed with the FCC.  The price was undisclosed when the deal was announced last week.  The stations include Classic Rock WIMZ, AC WJXB (B97.5) and Active Rock WVRX (95.7 THE X)/KNOXVILLE, Adult Hits WCJK (96.3 JACK FM) and AC WJXA (MIX 92.9)/NASHVILLE, and Top 40 WSTO (HOT 96), Country WKFW (93.5 THE WOLF), AC WIKY and Classic Rock WABX/EVANSVILLE, plus the LMA for Adult Hits WEJK (107.1 JACK FM)/EVANSVILLE.

In other filings with the FCC, OWL BROADCASTING & DEVELOPMENT, INC. is selling Spanish Religion KSAZ-A (RADIO EBENEZER 580 AM)/MARANA, AZ to KASA RADIO HOGAR, INC. for $1.375 million.  The buyer has been operating the station under a time brokerage agreement since 2012 and is exercising an option in that TBA to buy KSAZ.

MANCHESTER COMMUNICATIONS, INC. is selling Rock WTBK (ROCK 105)/MANCHESTER, KY to CHOICE RADIO CORPORATION for $425,000 ($150,000 cash, $275,000 in a promissory note) plus an LMA before closing.

CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH is selling noncommercial Religion KWFJ/ROY, WA to BIBLE BROADCASTING NETWORK, INC. for $100,000.

MARTIN DIRST is selling KFZE/DANIEL, WY to WAGONWHEEL COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION for $50,000.

TRUSTWORTHY RADIO LLC, MARKIAN R. SLOBODIAN, trustee, is selling WHYL-A/CARLISLE, PA to HAROLD Z. SWIDLER's WHYL, INC. in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceeding for $30,000.  The station has gone silent while the sale process is underway; TRUSTWORTHY's Chapter 11 bankruptcy was converted to Chapter 7 last SEPTEMBER with the entire staff exiting (NET NEWS 9/23).

CLEAR CHANNEL's CAPSTAR TX LIMITED PARTNERSHIP is selling K277CR/DURANGO, CO to PETER TRAN for $15,000.

RADIO ONE's CHARLOTTE BROADCASTING LLC is selling control of GAFFNEY BROADCASTING, INCORPORATED, licensee of W282AX/GAFFNEY, SC, to FOWLER BROADCAST COMMUNICATIONS INC. as part of the previously consummated deal that also spun Country WZZQ-A/GAFFNEY to FOWLER for $225,000.  

PROGRESSIVE BROADCASTING SYSTEM, INC. is selling W291BQ/PLYMOUTH, IN to COMMUNITY SERVICE BROADCASTERS, INC. for $55,000.  The station will rebroadcast Classic Hits WTCA-A/PLYMOUTH.

FAITH COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK, INC. is selling W247BZ/LEWISBURG, WV to RADIO GREENBRIER, LLC for $10.  The translator will rebroadcast Sports WSLW-A (THE RED ZONE 1310)/WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV.

BETHEL FELLOWSHIP, INC. is selling W268CE/BEAVER DAM, KY to BEECH TREE PUBLISHING INC. for $26,800.  The translator will rebroadcast Classic Hits WLBQ-A (BEECH TREE RADIO)/MORGANTOWN, KY.

STARSTATION RADIO, LLC has requested a Silent STA for WLRR/MILLEDGEVILLE, GA after losing its site lease.

COMMON FREQUENCY, INC. has filed for a Silent STA for KBCZ/BOULDER CREEK, CA due to storm damage.

WREN COMMUNICATIONS, INC. has closed on the sale of silent noncommercial KKWY/DOUGLAS, WY to VIC MICHAEL's CEDAR COVE BROADCASTING, INC. for $2,000.

CRAWFORD BROADCASTING affiliate WMUZ RADIO, INC. has closed on the donation of Religion KSTL-A/ST. LOUIS to CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, INC.

SOVEREIGN CITY RADIO SERVICES, LLC has closed on the sale of Country KYRN (MINE COUNTRY 102.1)/SOCORRO, NM to SOCORRO COMMUNITY RADIO, LLC.

RADIO DISNEY GROUP, LLC has closed on the sale of silent WKSH-A/SUSSEX-MILWAUKEE, WI to STARBOARD MEDIA FOUNDATION, INC. for $725,000.

THOMAS D. HODGINS has closed on the sale of K248CD/SALEM, OR to EDWARD C. DISTELL for $25,000.

And YOUR CHRISTIAN COMPANION NETWORK, INC. has closed on the sale of K224ER/EUREKA, CA to BICOASTAL MEDIA LICENSES II, LLC for $17,500.  The station will rebroadcast Sports KATA-A (ESPN 1340)/ARCATA, CA.

Also, two FM translator licenses are expiring today after failure by the licensees to file a timely renewal.  MARS HILL BROADCASTING CO., INC.'s W201CY/DANSVILLE, NY and SPREAD THE GOSPEL, INC.'s W260BW/EGG HARBOR, NJ are expiring.
