WOOF BOOM RADIO has split the MUNCIE, IN-area Classic Rock simulcast WMXQ/HARTFORD CITY, IN-WMQX/ALEXANDRIA, IN, with WMQX flipping to Country on SUNDAY as "96.7 BLAKE FM."
The station's website describes "BLAKE," an obvious nod to Country superstar BLAKE SHELTON, as "a trend setter with the best taste in music, which suits him well in the radio business. He believes that radio is more important than algebra, but calling your mother once a week is more important than BOTH. BLAKE was voted 'Most Likely to Succeed' his senior year at every high school in the surrounding area. He is the kind of guy any self respecting girl wants to marry and every guy wants to have a beer with. Right from the start, BLAKE knows you will realize that his station is all about NEW country music and playing it fast and hard. Plus, BLAKE can more than pull off a pair of blue jeans - that’s just science! "
APD BRIAN MADDOX said, "There are Country fans that love WAYLON and WILLIE. The other Country stations here play that music. BLAKE-FM is for the listener who wants new Country music."
WOOF BOOM Pres. J CHAPMAN added, "We started WOOF BOOM one year ago to restore local control to radio listeners in EAST CENTRAL INDIANA. The launch of a locally programmed Country station is important to the people who live here. BLAKE-FM is different. We are not going to pipe in music from NASHVILLE and use talent from NEW YORK. We live and work in EAST CENTRAL INDIANA, and BLAKE does too."
