Forty-five broadcast professionals are contributing to make this year’s KELLAR RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE a mountain top experience for 24 aspiring young broadcasters accepted into the Institute on the campus of APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY in BOONE, NC. THE KELLAR RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE begins TODAY (6/2) with NCAB Pres. and WRAL-TV/RALEIGH VP/GM STEVE HAMMEL making the opening comments.
All sessions are held on campus, except WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4th, when they are held in CHARLOTTE and are led by; DOUG RICE and his team from PERFORMANCE RACING NETWORK at CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY, MICK MIXON, Play-by-Play Announcer of the NFL CAROLINA PANTHERS at BANK OF AMERICA STADIUM and SCOTT LAUER of the NBA CHARLOTTE HORNETS at TIME WARNER ARENA.
KELLAR RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE Dir. and Founder of the NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM DAN VALLIE said, “This all began as the answer to the question, ‘where is the next generation of talent coming from’ and the often stated comment that we need a radio talent farm system for our industry. We now have exactly that as we secure sponsorships from broadcasters and identify universities to create a Radio Talent Institute in each state. It’s exciting to watch and, admittedly, somewhat emotional at times to see students with the talent and passion to succeed in our business, complete the Institute and begin a career, fulfilling our need for young talent and the Radio Talent Institutes being the campus-to-career connection the students need. It’s impressive and heart-warming to see so many broadcasters committing both time and sponsorship to make this happen”.
Individual broadcasters, groups or organizations who would like to join the NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM in establishing and sponsoring a Radio Talent Institute on a campus in their state and region should contact DanVallie@NationalRadioTalentSystem.com or call (828) 262-1502.
