New NextRadio Data: Interactivity Can Be Key To Growth

The growth of NEXTRADIO's FM chip in smart phones continues unabated. Since the last report three weeks ago (NET NEWS, 5/12), 55,000 more apps where downloaded, raising the total to over 450,000, Over 550 more radio stations were tuned in by users (making it over 9,200 FMs), who listened for over 480,000 hours -- an increase of 95,000 hours.
The latest post in NEXTRADIO's blog also brought up other data that proved that stations that provide interactivity (album art, programming schedule, etc.) can grow bigger audiences than stations that don't. For example:
* The fully interactive stations could draw more than 4 times more unique listeners.
* The fully interactive stations on average generate 4 times more listening occasions.
* The fully interactive stations can generate 4.5 times more listening minutes.
* The fully interactive stations comprise 8 of the top 10 most listened to stations.Read the entire column here.
