FORDHAM UNIVERSITY Triple A WFUV/NEW YORK will bring performances and highlights from three major festivals to the airwaves and Internet this summer.
First up is a broadcast of JACK JOHNSON’s sold-out CELEBRATE BROOKLYN! on TUESDAY, JUNE 10th concert in PROSPECT PARK, which will air the following day, JUNE 11th at 8p. The following week, WFUV plans to air the equally sold-out CELEBRATE BROOKLYN! concert of BROOKLYN’s own THE NATIONAL live on TUESDAY, JUNE 17th, starting at approximately 8:30p. These benefit concerts help subsidize the free concerts at CELEBRATE BROOKLYN!
Continuing a tradition that goes back to 2005, WFUV PD RITA HOUSTON will broadcast her “Whole Wide World” program from the BONNAROO MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL in MANCHESTER, TN on FRIDAY, JUNE 13th between 7-10. HOUSTON and WFUV colleague ALISA ALI will present interviews and share highlights of the FESTIVAL.
WFUV will be broadcasting live for the first time from CLEARWATER’s GREAT HUDSON RIVER REVIVAL at CROTON POINT PARK in CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY, on both SATURDAY, JUNE 21st and SUNDAY, JUNE 22nd.
“Seeing live music outdoors is just an essential part of summer,” said HOUSTON. “We’re thrilled to partner with two of our favorite festivals in the NEW YORK region, CLEARWATER and CELEBRATE BROOKLYN!, to broadcast some of our favorite artists. And BONNAROO is such an iconic festival, but in such a remote location, that we love bringing the best of it to our listeners.”
Funding for WFUV's ongoing coverage of live concerts and festivals comes from the AGNES VARIS TRUST.
