Former RADIO ONE Gospel WTLC-A (1310 THE LIGHT)/INDIANAPOLIS news anchor KELLY VAUGHN has filed suit against RADIO ONE in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of INDIANA, alleging that the station discriminated against her by firing her and not a male host for developing a show. The suit was filed on FRIDAY (6/6).
VAUGHN, who filed a discrimination claim with the EEOC in JANUARY, alleges that she began developing a TV/radio project, the "AMOS AND ABDUL" show, with WTLC host AMOS BROWN and EMMIS News-Talk WIBC weekend host ABDUL-HAKIM SHABAZZ, at LESEA independent WHMB-TV, on the representation of BROWN that he had approval from prior WTLC management to do the show, and that when the show aired on TV, Station Manager CHARLES WILLIAMS fired her for working on it but did not fire BROWN.
