The GAB RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE begins TODAY (6/16) at GRADY COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION on the campus of UGA, and in doing so, officially becomes the fourth RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE in the National Radio Talent System. Sponsored by the GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS and supported further by COX MEDIA GROUP, the inaugural GAB RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE includes students from UGA and other universities in the state and region.
GAB Pres. BOB HOUGHTON stated, “I’m excited that we can bring THE RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE to GEORGIA. From the time I took the position of President of the GAB, this was one of my goals. Then I learned that THE NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM had already created THE RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE and is making it available in an almost turnkey form, producing young people ready to succeed in the radio business. Now it’s time for GEORGIA to benefit.”
GRADY COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION Dean Dr. CHARLES N. DAVIS said, “It’s important that we continue to build partnerships with industry, and this is the campus to career connection many students need. I am excited about this partnership in the dynamic and changing world of broadcasting. We are committed to generating the next generation of broadcast communicators, and I believe journalism and mass communication is central to the life of the democracy.”
NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM Pres./Founder DAN VALLIE commented, “BOB HOUGHTON caught the vision immediately and knew the positive impact this can have on our industry. It was similar in the very first meeting we had with Dean DAVIS and others at the UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA’s GRADY COLLEGE. They saw a natural collaboration right away. GRADY COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION is one of the most distinguished communication programs in the country, and is consistently ranked among the best in the nation. We are excited to be a part of GRADY COLLEGE by bringing another signature program to UGA in the form of the GAB RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE.”
