SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION Pres. THOM CALLAHAN takes on “technology bullies” and talks up a career in Radio Sales Career in “Thought Leaders,” the latest post in his media blog. In it, he cites industries that have been negatively impacted by advancing technology -- not so with radio.
“Technology Bullies or Why a Radio Sales Career Sure Looks Good Right Now” makes the fact-based observation that certain industries are under attack, yet Radio still thrives in these competing audio environments,” CALLAHAN said. “I wanted to showcase what technology can do to certain industries and Radio’s secret weapons that will always overcome the “technology bullies. This is a great time to be in Radio, simply because all the new audio technology only makes Radio more attractive to its listeners.
“We have nothing to fear from technology,” he continued. “By any comparison, Radio continues to increase listenership as new audio technology only points out Radio’s real strengths. “These technology companies like to call themselves Radio, but only Radio is Radio and that’s why Radio is winning this comparison battle,” he said.
