The FCC's proposed regulatory fee structure for fiscal year 2014 has been released, with comments due JULY 7th and replies due JULY 14th.
The Commission is required by Congress to collect $339,844,000 for fiscal 2014 to offset the agency's appropriation. Rate increases are capped at 7.5%, with radio station fees ranging from $775 for a Class A AM station serving fewer than 25,000 people to a high of $12,025 for an FM Class B, C, C0, C1, and C2 station serving over 3 million people. AM construction permits are at $590, and FM permits are at $750.
Among proposed changes is the question of whether AM expanded band stations should continue to be exempt from regulatory fees, and several changes in the distribution of the regulatory fee burden among other categories of services.
