Amidst the high profile cases decided MONDAY (6/30) by the SUPREME COURT, the high court denied certiorari to the case involving paid political messages on noncommercial broadcast stations.
The move means that the appeal of the Ninth Circuit's rejection of MINORITY TELEVISION PROJECT's suit against the FCC will not be heard by the SUPREME COURT and the decision upholding the ban stands. MTP, licensee of noncommercial KMPT-TV/SAN FRANCISCO, argued that the ban violated its First Amendment rights, but the lower court said that the FCC has the authority to enforce the ban.
