Rdio Acquires TastemakerX, Adds New Execs

RDIO has acquired music discovery and curation service, TASTEMAKERX. The integration includes RDIO's absorption of the entire TASTEMAKERX team, including former CEO/Co-Founder MARC RUXIN and Co-Founder SANDRO PUGILESE.
RUXIN will head corporate marketing, ad sales, brand partnerships, business development, programming and evangelism for RDIO.
"We have always viewed RDIO as the most strategically aligned music platform to what we have been working on in terms of social and contextual music discovery," said RUXIN, "they have always put user experience and design at the forefront – we are thrilled to join forces."
Along with the TASTEMAKERX team, RDIO announced two additional key hires. JIM RONDINELL joins as the new SVP/Content Licensing and Catalog Acquisition. He will be responsible for leading catalog acquisitions. In addition, MAT BATES has joined as head of radio and programming to lead the creation of Rdio's programming voice and radio experience. BATES joins RDIO from SLACKER.
