Get well wishes go out to legendary BUFFALO SABRES radio and television voice RICK JEANNERET, who is battling throat cancer.
The 72-year-old JEANNERET, the NHL club's voice since their second season (1971-72), told the BUFFALO NEWS' ALAN PERGAMENT that a golf-ball-sized growth was found in his throat and has been diagnosed as malignant Stage III cancer; he will undergo radiation and possibly chemotherapy but says he has been given an 85% chance of recovery and added, "I would like to stress I have every intention of coming back. I have probably three months ahead of me that aren’t going to be fun. I know they aren’t going to be.... I consider this to be a bump in the road and am fully intending to come back and fulfill my obligations to the SABRES. I know there is going to be a lot of concern. All I can do is ask everybody to please allow me and my family to keep this as private as possible. We will provide updates through the team.”
JEANNERET's calls are heard in simulcasts on ENTERCOM Sports WGR-A/BUFFALO and cable's MSG NETWORK.
