WASATCH PUBLIC MEDIA noncommercial News-Talk KCPW-F/SALT LAKE CITY has raised the $42,000 it needed to remain on the air, the station announced last week. The station needed to raise the money to pay AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA for programming that occupies 54 hours of its schedule each week.
In a message to listeners, the station posted on Facebook, "This station's listeners have always been its backbone. Today, though, KCPW is especially grateful to the hundreds of people who have contributed over the past few days. We are pleased to say that we made our goal and will be able to continue to broadcast, thanks to you.
"As we look ahead, we are working toward a more sustainable model for this station. We have our work cut out for us to cover the year's expenses. In addition, we will be actively attacking vendor debts, as well as our long-outstanding debt from the original purchase of COMMUNITY WIRELESS OF PARK CITY.
"Thus, we are rolling this 'Help Save KCPW' campaign into a 'Make KCPW Sustainable' campaign."
