Funding reallocations at the statewide VIRGINIA PUBLIC RADIO consortium have put an end to MAY-LILY LEE's "VIRGINIA CONVERSATIONS" talk show, reports the ROANOKE TIMES. The show was launched two years ago but was only being carried live by VIRGINIA TECH FOUNDATION News-Talk-Classical WVTF and its RADIO IQ sister network and by HAMPTON ROADS EDUCATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION News-Talk-Jazz WHRV/NORFOLK.
WVTF PD RICK MATTIONI told the TIMES, "We asked VPR stations whether they wanted to continue to carry, or start carrying, ‘VIRGINIA CONVERSATIONS’ or if they would rather have additional in-depth reports and daily spots that they can insert into their weekday/weekend news magazines. The consensus was: Boost the reporting that can be stripped across the week.” LEE remains with VPR as a reporter.
