CLEAR CHANNEL News-Talk WTAM-A/CLEVELAND 7-11p (ET) host and "THE SPEW" 9-10a combatant BOB FRANTZ has exited the station. FRANTZ broke the news on Facebook, posting, "This is one of those posts no one likes to make, but alas, it must be done. I am no longer employed by WTAM 1100. What's next? Working on that as we speak. More to come.... My best to all, BOB." All references to FRANTZ were wiped clean from WTAM's website as of TODAY (7/8); FRANTZ' evening show was often pre-empted by CLEVELAND INDIANS baseball and CLEVELAND CAVALIERS basketball in their respective seasons.
And late TUESDAY, "THE SPORTS FEED" co-host and INDIANS reporter NICK CAMINO revealed in a tweet that he will be taking over the evening show from FRANTZ. "Today has been a bittersweet, emotional ride," CAMINO wrote. "I received a promotion to become the new nightly talk show host on NEWSRADIO WTAM 1100. I'll be keeping my hands in some #Indians stuff, but I'll begin a regular nightly talk show on NEWSRADIO WTAM 1100 when we don't have games. Appreciate all the support. As I said, a bittersweet day. Time & hard work are paying off. Talk shows are what I've wanted, & I'm thrilled. And yes...@DreKnott (co-host ANDRE KNOTT) & I will still be rockin' out 'THE SPORTS FEED' on WTAM 1100. That's been a blast & I look forward to it continuing. Sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support & kind words. NEWSRADIO WTAM 1100 is in for a wild ride at night! Thanks so much! #Blessed"
FRANTZ joined WTAM first in 1998, then headed to Sports KTCT-A/SAN FRANCISCO, Sports WHOO-A/ORLANDO, and Talk WSPD-A/TOLEDO before returning to WTAM for middays in 2006.
The news of FRANTZ' departure was broken by OHIO MEDIA WATCH.
