Two weeks after a NEW YORK judged ruled that "audio bombing" live broadcasts -- a common tactic employed by HOWARD STERN's "Whack Pack" -- are legal (NET NEWS, 7/1) a MSNBC-TV news broadcast was similarly pranked, TPM reports. "The Cycle" co-host KRYSTAL BALL thought she was interviewing an eyewitness to the MALAYSIAN plane crash on the phone -- accent on "thought."
"Well, I was looking out the window and I saw a projectile flying through the sky and it would appear that the plane was shot down by a blast of wind from HOWARD STERN's ass," the caller said.
Apparently, BALL wasn't listening to the response all that closely, as she dutifully asked another legitimate question. The obviously surprised caller replied, "Boy, you're a dumbass, aren't you?"
At which point, the host realized the stunt and cut to a commercial break.
