TENNESSEE SPORTS RADIO, which has programmed a Sports format on KIRKLAND WIRELESS BROADCASTERS, INC.' s WVLZ-A/KNOXVILLE, will be shutting the format down as two new formats developed by OSKIE MEDIA LLC come on the air in KNOXVILLE, reports crosstown ABC affiliate WATE-TV. The new format for WVLZ, Oldies, will launch on AUGUST 29th, while the new format at sister WKCE-A, Comedy, will debut in mid-SEPTEMBER.
TSR GM JASON BAILEY said, "We wanted to engage our audience. We set TENNESSEE SPORTS RADIO up in a way that was unlike any other radio station in KNOXVILLE. We were ahead of our time, and our listeners and advertisers loved it and responded to it. We had a great four-year run and we raised the bar for sports radio in EAST TENNESSEE. Everyone involved with TENNESSEE SPORTS RADIO should be proud of what they accomplished."
