PITTSBURGH COMMUNITY BROADCASTING Triple A WYEP/PITTSBURGH has announced that “Grand Groove Radio” -- a new, weekly exploration of contemporary and classic offerings in R&B, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Jazz, House and Hip-Hop curated and hosted by JAMES SCOGLIETTI (aka DJ SELECTA) -- will launch on FRIDAY EVENING beginning AUGUST 1st.
“A show like this one is unprecedented in the local market,” said PD KYLE SMITH. “These are the genres and sub-genres that are often neglected in terrestrial radio, and JIM’s curatorial strength lies in a deep familiarity with the key artists, influences and legacies that run through them all.”
“A key feature in the show each week will be a segment called ‘Respect the Architects’,” said SELECTA. “I will focus on the anniversary of an iconic album that showcases an artist’s music, and explore selections from other artists that were inspired by that album.”
Airing from 6-8p, “Grand Groove Radio” replaces the FRIDAY EVENING edition of “World Cafe,” which will continue to air MONDAY through THURSDAY evenings at 6p.
