While ARBITRON is confident in the reliability of the just released NEW ORLEANS AND BILOXI-GULFPORT, LA SPRING '06 Books MONDAY (8/21), the unusual circumstances that accompanied the resumption of the ARBITRON radio survey in these two markets have prompted a survey notice to NEW ORLEANS and BILOXI subscribers stating:
Prior-Survey Trends/ Prior-survey trends and multi-book averages are not published in the SPRING 2006 NEW ORLEANS RADIO MARKET REPORT, as audience estimates are not available for SUMMER 2005, FALL 2005, or WINTER 2006. Subscribers should not use multi-book averages that include SPRING 2006 audience estimates.
MEDIA RATING COUNCIL (MRC) Executive Director GEORGE IVIE stated, "I discourage users of the SPRING 2006 BILOXI-GULFPORT-PASCAGOULA and NEW ORLEANS ratings reports from combining this data with any prior survey period because of the unknown impact of HURRICANE KATRINA on audience estimates and the extended period of time since ARBITRON's prior measurement. Because of these unknown factors, I believe the SPRING 2006 data for these markets should not be trended with prior reports."
Additional information can be found in the SPRING 2006 GULF COAST WHITE PAPER.
