THE BOBBY BONES SHOW raised over $60,000 for SUSAN G. KOMEN during their #50kWithJasonA challenge. The fundraiser was launched last WEEK during an appearance by JASON ALDEAN. ALDEAN agreed to play a show with BONES' band, THE RAGING IDIOTS, to benefit ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S RESEARCH HOSPITAL if BONES and his cast mates could raise $50,000 for SUSAN G. KOMEN (NET NEWS 7/22).
With just one day left, THE BOBBY BONES SHOW began the show (7/29) $15,000 shy of their goal. BONES pledged on-air that he would personally match any donations within a 15-minute block of the show. At that time, listeners stepped up to the plate and donated $10,000. With BONES' matching donation of $10,000, the goal was instantly surpassed.
"ALDEAN and the IDIOTS has quite a ring to it," joked ALDEAN. "Seriously, I think it's great that they were able to raise so much money for SUSAN G. KOMEN and so quickly ... Country fans are the best! It's been a long time since I've sat in at a club show like this ... I better start thinking about what songs I can do with them."
BONES did not seem surprised that his audience came through. "Our listeners never disappoint me, and they often still surprise me with their generosity," stated BONES. "To team up with one of Country music's biggest stars and help two charities at the same time is awesome. We're happy to be supporting ST. JUDE and SUSAN G. KOMEN. Now onto the show that JASON promised us -- JASON ALDEAN and my band THE RAGING IDIOTS."
Details of the show will be announced in the near future, once plans have been solidified. For more information, visit www.BobbyBones.com.
