FOX has restored its advertising to ENTERCOM stations after pulling it on FRIDAY in the wake of Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON morning "DENNIS AND CALLAHAN" sidekick KIRK MINIHANE's comments on FOX sportscaster ERIN ANDREWS and his subsequent "apology" that included further insults. The BOSTON GLOBE reports that FOX informed ENTERCOM of its about-face WEDNESDAY after MINIHANE's suspension, and that FOX SPORTS personalities, also pulled from appearances on WEEI, are likely to return shortly as well.
In a statement obtained by the GLOBE, FOX SPORTS SVP/Media Relations LOU D'ERMILIO said, "We appreciate ENTERCOM's recognition and response to the inappropriate comments made by the WEEI host. It is our sincere hope both organizations can now move forward."
ENTERCOM BOSTON VP/GM PHIL ZACHARY added, "On our end, we consider the matter 100% resolved."
MINIHANE called ANDREWS a "gutless bitch" after her interview with ST. LOUIS CARDINALS ace ADAM WAINWRIGHT during the ALL-STAR GAME; in his apology, he said that if ANDREWS "weighed 15 pounds more she would be a waitress at PERKINS." The latter comment, and ENTERCOM's initial inaction, led FOX to pull the ads, after which ENTERCOM suspended MINIHANE for a week.
