RED ROCK RADIO CORP.'s flip of some AM stations in WISCONSIN and MINNESOTA to Sports isn't limited to the two reported upon last week (NET NEWS 7/31); the company is flipping six stations in total to the new RED ZONE SPORTS RADIO NETWORK format TODAY (8/4).
The flip includes existing Sports stations KQDS-A (AM 1490 THE FAN)/DULUTH and KRBT-A (AM 1340 THE FAN)/EVELETH, MN, which will continue to air programming from CLEAR CHANNEL Sports KFXN-F (THE FAN)/MINNEAPOLIS' regionally syndicated lineup. The previously reported flip of Adult Standards WXCE-A/AMERY, WI and Adult Standards WHSM-A/HAYWARD, WI are being augmented by flips of KKIN-A/AITKIN, MN and WCMP-A/PINE CITY, MN; the latter four will primarily air NBC SPORTS RADIO.
RED ROCK RADIO Pres. SHAWN SKRAMSTAD said, “We have been looking for ways to use the power of the group and the various assets of our stations to help build something together that individually would be difficult. The RED ZONE SPORTS RADIO NETWORK is a good example of this new strategy.”
Sports Dir. BRUCE CISKIE added, “RED ZONE represents a new brand for Sports programming in the region. These stations will continue to cover local sports in their markets while giving listeners comprehensive coverage of the sports news and issues that interest them.”
