FCC Rejects Bid By KSLK Licensee To Have Expired License Reinstated

No Reinstatement

The FCC has rejected a Petition for Reconsideration/Review of Staff Action by NEW VISALIA BROADCASTING, INC. of the expiration and deletion of the license of KSLK/VISALIA, CA.

The licensee argued that the Commission should have issued an Order to Show Cause before deciding that the license had expired, and that the Media Bureau should have reinstated the license as a matter of exercising its discretion, claiming that the station's silence was due to the health of the company's principals, ROBERT and SHARRYLE EURICH.  The Bureau, in denying the reinstatement, noted that there was no precedent for reinstating a license that had expired due to the licensee's principals' health, and that the company had asserted in its applications for Silent STAs that the station's silence was due to loss of its tower site.

The Commission also rejected BETHEL FELLOWSHIP INC.'s appeal of the denial of its Petition to Deny the application an grant of an application by CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION, INC. for a new noncommercial educational FM at UPTON, KY over its own application for an NCE station at CECILIA, KY.

And ALPHA AND OMEGA COMMUNICATIONS, LLC has been fined $2,400 for a change in ownership of the tower of Regional Mexican KMRI-A (EXITOS 1550)/WEST VALLEY CITY-SALT LAKE CITY, UT without proper notification to the FCC.  The fine was reduced from $3,000 due to the licensee's history of compliance.
