Condolences to family and friends of former noncommercial WBAI and WNYC-A-F/NEW YORK host STEVE POST, who died SUNDAY of lung cancer at 70, reports THE NEW YORK TIMES.
Most often described as a "contrarian," POST started his career at WBAI in 1965, spending 14 years at the PACIFICA outlet hosting "THE OUTSIDE" and "ROOM 101," and later hosted WNYC's "MORNING MUSIC WITH STEVE POST" from 1982 to 2001.
In 2002, he launched "THE NO SHOW," mixing commentary with music. He also worked at WBLS/NEW YORK and managed C.W. POST COLLEGE's WCWP/LONG ISLAND.
