Longtime DJ RICH “BROTHER” ROBBIN is set to retire after his afternoon air shift ends tomorrow on BROADCAST COMPANY OF THE AMERICAS Classic Hits XHPRS (THE WALRUS)/SAN DIEGO. "Fifty-six years is enough, thank you very much, he told DON BARRET at LARADIO.COM. "It’s been a great run (and great fun) and I'm ready to hang up the ol' earphones and get on with the rest of my life.”
ROBBINS' career includes stops at '70s L.A. stations KIQQ (K-100), KKDJ, KGFJ, and KTNQ (10-Q), as well as KCBQ and K-BEST in SAN DIEGO. Besides being a DJ, he has been a PD, GM and station owner.
“It's been a long, strange trip with lotsa ups and a few downs (especially the discrimination just 'cause I happen to be gay),” he said a reflective RICH this week. “It's been 95% fun and rewarding, but the time has come. I'm 100% ready to step away and get on with the rest of my life. I couldn't be happier if I were twins!”
