The FCC has added consideration of whether to add radio to the list of media required to put public and political files online to a proceeding seeking comment on extending the requirement to cable and satellite TV.
The Commission opened the docket, Media Bureau No. 14-127, in response to a petition for rulemaking filed by the CAMPAIGN LEGAL CENTER, COMMON CAUSE, and THE SUNLIGHT FOUNDATION asking that the controversial 2012 online public file rules, presently only applicable to broadcast television stations, be enforced against cable and satellite operators. The Commission added radio to the consideration and is asking for comment on an "appropriate time frame" for the requirement.
Comments are due AUGUST 28th, with replies due SEPTEMBER 8th.
