Condolences to family and friends of former longtime CBS RADIO News KNX-A/LOS ANGELES Vice President and General Manager GEORGE NICHOLAW, who died SATURDAY night (8/9) at his home after a battle with an infection at 85, according to reports by LARADIO.COM and KNX.
NICHOLAW was with CBS from 1955 through 2003, during which time the station won PEABODY, CRYSTAL, and DUPONT Awards as well as over 170 Golden Mike Awards. He left the station in 2003, when it was owned by INFINITY and his position was eliminated in favor of a Market Manager position. NICHOLAW was honored by the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. He was also Chairman of the CALIFORNIA HORSE RACING BOARD in 1999 and a Commissioner for eight years in 1992-2000.
CBS RADIO President/CEO DAN MASON said, "GEORGE laid the groundwork for decades of first class journalism at KNX. His legacy will be shared by many for years to come."
