NEWARK PUBLIC RADIO, owner of noncommercial Jazz WBGO/NEWARK-NEW YORK, has taken the Acting part off of Acting President/CEO AMY NILES' title, making her promotion to the post from SVP/COO official, reports DOWNBEAT.
NILES replaces the retiring longtime Pres./CEO CEPHAS BOWLES, who she has been substituting for as he took a health-related leave of absence since last year.
Board of Trustees Chairman STEPHEN N. IFSHIN said, “AMY has the leadership skills and dedication to guide WBGO and fulfill its mission as the global voice of jazz."
NILES added, “I’m incredibly enthusiastic about the future. I know that as WBGO’s reach and influence grows, we will continue to undertake and achieve great things.”
