WISCONSIN PUBLIC RADIO Director MIKE CRANE and PURDUE UNIVERSITY noncommercial WBAA-A-F/WEST LAFAYETTE, LA GM MIKE SAVAGE have been elected to the Board of Directors of NPR, reports CURRENT.ORG.
SAVAGE is believed to be the first board member elected after being placed on the ballot by a written petition rather than being picked by the board's selection committee.
In addition, UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON News-Talk KUOW/SEATTLE GM CARYN MATHES and UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA-LAS VEGAS News-Talk KNPR/LAS VEGAS CEO FLO ROGERS were re-elected to second terms, and public directors PATRICIA DIAZ DENNIS and former NPR Interim CEO PAUL G. HAAGA JR. won re-election as well.
Each director will start their new three-year terms in NOVEMBER, as will NATIONAL FEDERATION OF COMMUNITY BROADCASTERS President SALLY KANE, elected as a non-board member of the NPR Distribution/Interconnection Committee.
