CURTIS MEDIA Top 40 WPLW (PULSE102)/RALEIGH capped off a busy week SUNDAY (8/17) with their second annual BACK 2 SCHOOL BASH featuring MEGHAN TRAINOR and AJR. The free event packed the center court at the CRABTREE VALLEY MALL. The crowd, estimated to be around 700+ was anxious to see the boys of AJR and shake their booty with MEGHAN TRAINOR. The finale of the event featured AJR and TRAINOR sharing the stage for a cover of the OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW (and recent #1 Country hit for DARIUS RUCKER) song "Wagon Wheel" which had the entire crowd singing along (watch here).
MIKE 'MD' BIDDLE, PD of PULSE, was thrilled with the turnout, saying "I know everybody says this, but we truly do have the best listeners. Our TWITTER, FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM pages were filled with pictures from the show and so much positive feedback. These kinds of events can be a bit stressful behind the scenes, but our staff and the mall did a great job and the day went very smoothly. Both AJR and MEGHAN were so great to work with, we couldn’t have asked for a better event!"
This was the third event of the week for PULSE. Earlier in the week, ONEREPUBLIC was in town with THE SCRIPT, and on FRIDAY (8/15) the station hosted their "Big Bang Hang" with KATY TIZ.
BIDDLE said, "KATY is an amazing artist with one of the best personalities/attitudes I’ve ever seen in an artist. She totally blew away our contest winners when she belted out ‘The Big Bang’ and surprised us too with a fun cover of TLC's ‘No Scrubs.’"
If you want to see ATLANTIC RECORDS' JON LEWIS provide the whistling for ‘The Big Bang’ check this clip from the station's FACEBOOK page.
