JOURNAL Country KFDI/WICHITA has teamed with clustermates Rock KICT (T-95) and Regional Mexican KYQQ (RADIO LOBO) for a six-week campaign called “BAND TOGETHER,” designed to raise awareness of the dangers from texting and driving.
All three stations have partnered with the DAVIS-MOORE AUTO GROUP for a program that will include on-air, online and social media components encouraging drivers not to text while behind the wheel.
Drivers of all ages throughout the WICHITA area are being asked to join the “BAND TOGETHER” initiative by visiting the radio station websites and pledging to not text and drive. Everyone who pledges will be entered to win an iPAD Mini, to be awarded at the end of the campaign.
“Like DAVIS-MOORE, our stations have a long history of service to the community,” said JOURNAL /WICHITA OM and KFDI PD JUSTIN CASE. "Distracted driving causes many unnecessary injuries and deaths. These accidents are preventable. Our hope is not only to raise awareness but to change behavior with simple and clear messaging: phones down, thumbs up."
