The CRTC has approved a move of NEWCAP Adult Standards CISL-A/RICHMOND-VANCOUVER along with a daytime power increase from 10,000 to 20,000 watts and a nighttime decrease from 9.000 to 4,000 watts due to its present site sinking.
NEWCAP was also hit with a short-term renewal for Adult Hits CHLG (96.9 JACK FM)/VANCOUVER after it asked to be relieved of its license requirements for 15% special-interest music with 40% of those to be aired 6a-6p. Because the Commission had determined that NEWCAP had fallen short on its Canadian content development contributions, the agency denied the request and further gave the station a five-year renewal to allow for an earlier review of the licensee's compliance with the CCD payment requirements.
Earlier, the CRTC granted two new FMs to SUKHVINDER SINGH BADH's SOUTH FRASER BROADCASTING INC. for an AC-Triple A station with 2,500 watts on 107.7 FM at SURREY, BC and 0971197 B.C. (PUSHOR FAMILY HOLDING CORP., OKANAGAN VALLEY BUSINESS CONSULTING LTD., DAUTRICH 2007 FAMILY TRUST, and CRAIG and CANDACE CAMERON) for a Specialty (primarily spoken word) station with 6,000 watts on 98.3 FM in VANCOUVER.
And the agency approved the move of DUFFERIN COMMUNICATIONS AC CFJL (JEWEL 101)/WINNIPEG from 100.7 FM to 100.5 FM with a power boost to 100,000 watts.
