Condolences to family and friends of longtime PHILADELPHIA radio personality DON CANNON, who died TODAY (8/22) at 74.
CANNON, born DOMINIC CANZANO in YONKERS, NY, started in radio on LONG ISLAND and at WDRC-A/HARTFORD before moving to WIBG-A (WIBBAGE)/PHILADELPHIA. He went on to host at several stations in the market, including WIFI, WFIL-A, WIP-A, WSNI-F (SUNNY 104.5), and, finally, at CBS RADIO Oldies WOGL, where he did mornings until his 2004 retirement. He also served as PD at Oldies WSNI-A/WPGR-A and did mornings at WWDJ-A/NEW YORK and filled in at WNEW-A/NEW YORK, and was heard on the radio in the first "ROCKY" movie.
Among CANNON's survivors is his son, veteran PHILADELPHIA host CHRISTOPHER KNIGHT, now at TOWNSQUARE MEDIA Talk-Classic Hits WKXW (NEW JERSEY 101.5)/TRENTON.
