DUPAGE RADIO, LLC News-Talk daytimer WCKG-A (1530 THE BLAZE)/ELMHURST, IL (west CHICAGO suburbs) is changing course again, this time upping producer and board operator JOHN SPATARO to OM and dropping the hourly and half-hourly news updates from THEBLAZE RADIO NETWORK and the "BLAZE" slogan and adding live, local CHICAGO sports and weather and suburban news. SPATARO joined the station in APRIL after serving as a news anchor for the three-station CENTRAL RADIO GROUP cluster in PRINCETON, IL.
SPATARO said, "I'm excited to execute our vision for WCKG. AM 1530 reaches over 7 million people in CHICAGOLAND, while WCKG.com’s possibilities are infinite. I’m absolutely thrilled to be back home working with the wonderful people at WCKG."
WCKG Station Manager MATT DUBIEL said, “There was an exhaustive nationwide search to find the right person for the culture we’re building here. I’m excited to have a go-getter like JOHN at WCKG.”
WCKG recently moved to new studios and dropped MANCOW MULLER's CHICAGO-based syndicated morning show and PETER SCHIFF's RADIO AMERICA-syndicated show; the lineup now includes PREMIERE's GLENN BECK, GENESIS' ALEX JONES and "THE POWER HOUR WITH JOYCE RILEY," "FREE TALK LIVE," attorney MIA WESBROOKS' national show, and GUNDERSON CAPITAL MANAGEMENT's "BEST STOCKS NOW" show.
DUBIEL said, "We intend to make WCKG the 'WGN Radio' of the suburbs. It won’t happen over night, but we’re working at it every day. In the meantime, the long form programs on WCKG will tend to lean away from politics.”
