"Oh Say Can You Sing: 'The Star-Spangled Banner' In Popular Music" will spotlight the U.S. national anthem's influence in an exhibition opening at THE GRAMMY MUSEUM SEPTEMBER 12th.
The special display will celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the song, including the jumpsuit work by WHITNEY HOUSTON during her famous "Welcome Home Heroes" performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner” in 1991 and sheet music from arrangements by RICKEY MINOR. The exhibition offers a "contemporary exploration" of the song, originally penned by FRANCIS SCOTT KEY in 1814.
Also part of the display: video footage of JIMI HENDRIX’s iconic WOOSTOCK performance in 1969. The exhibition will run through OCTOBER 12th.
