THE WHITE HOUSE announced the appointment of DANNY MARTI as the new U.S. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ENFORCEMENT COORDINATOR (IPEC) yesterday.
RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (RIAA) Senior EVP MITCH GLAZIER offered his own assessment of the choice in the following released statement:
“The U.S. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ENFORCEMENT COORDINATOR is an increasingly important job on behalf of the millions of workers who comprise the country’s $1 trillion copyright economy. For music specifically, we are an industry that has tossed out the rulebook and reinvented ourselves as a digital business. But one rule remains the same – that intellectual protection helps fuels music creativity. We thank the Administration for moving to fill this significant post and we hope for speedy confirmation. We look forward to working with Mr. MARTI to help foster the genius of America's creative community.”
